Infant Discovered Inside Eco Bag as Woman Attempts to Kick it in Drainage

An infant was discovered lifeless inside an eco bag, which a woman callously tried to push into a drainage in Sampaloc, Manila.

The heart-wrenching event unfolded on Wednesday morning (May 31, 2023) at the intersection of España Boulevard and Maria Cristina Street, captured by surveillance cameras that would serve as crucial evidence in the subsequent investigation.

The distressing footage reveals the woman pushing an object inside the drainage and repeatedly kicking it in an attempt to conceal it from view. Unfortunately, her callous actions were witnessed by nearby residents who had been plagued by the foul stench emanating from the drain, presuming it to be a result of discarded waste.

Concerned for the welfare of the community, a diligent street sweeper promptly reported the incident to the local barangay authorities, bringing attention to this horrific event.

Upon receiving the alert, authorities wasted no time in responding to the distressing situation. As they carefully examined the contents of the eco bag, they were met with an indescribable sight—a baby, still connected to the umbilical cord, lying motionless inside the bag.

The shock and anguish felt by those present were palpable, and a sense of collective grief enveloped the community.

As the investigation into this unfathomable act of cruelty continues, the authorities are working diligently to uncover the identity of the woman responsible for this heinous act, according to Police Staff Sergeant Danny Kabigting of the Sampaloc Police Station.

“Inaalam pa identity ng babae. ‘Di masabi kung nanay or napag-utusan pero malinaw na intentional na abortion kasi kung hindi, sana sa ospital siya dinala hindi sa kanal,” Kabigting said.
