Gloria Diaz Shares Advice to Michelle Dee On Handling Bashers
MICHELLE DEE – The first Filipina Miss Universe Gloria Diaz shared her advice to Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee on handling bashers.
Michelle Dee won the Miss Universe Philippines crown on her second attempt. She competed in the national pageant in 2022 but was only hailed as Miss Philippines Tourism.
Following Michelle’s victory, pageant fans made divisive remarks. Some believed Miss Bohol Pauline Amelinckx was more deserving, while others believed the other Top 5 contenders should have won.
In a previous article, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach reminded Michelle Dee not to let other “chiefs” dictate her. She also said that she loves how Dee stayed true to herself.
Miss Universe 2022 Rbonney Gabriel also shared Dee’s strongest points. The Fil-Am beauty queen watched the closed-door interview of the Kapuso star and said she was so calm. She said, “She was so relaxed and she addressed everybody in the room so well.”
Gloria Diaz, the first Pinay Miss Universe, was overjoyed when Michelle Dee was chosen to represent the Philippines in the prestigious competition that will take place in El Salvador. In an exclusive interview with 24 Oras, Miss Gloria said it was lovely to watch Melanie Marquez, Miss International 1979’s winner, beaming with pride at her daughter Michelle’s success.
The 28-year-old beauty queen received this advice from Gloria on how to handle her critics.
“When I won Miss Philippines they said it was lutong Macau. And one or two people etcetera, pero I didn’t even know what lutong Macau means.
“And then afterwards, after I won Miss Universe nag-faint nga sila, e.” she recalled
“Ang puno nagbubunga siyempre babatuhin nila yan. But just do your best, enjoy, and just pretend they don’t exist.”
