Guinness World Records Say World’s Oldest Dog ‘Bobi’ Marked His 31st Birthday
The world’s oldest dog named ‘Bobi’ celebrated his 31st birthday on Thursday, May 11, 2023, according to the Guinness World Records (GWR).
Bobi, a miraculous fur baby from Portugal, was born on May 11, 1992, and is now the world’s oldest dog ever recorded by the GWR. More than 100 people from around the world are expected to attend Bobi’s birthday celebration, where local meats and fish will be served to guests, with extra for Bobi, who only eats human food.
According to the GWR, a dance troupe is also set to perform, and Bobi will actually be participating in one of the dances! The event is a special occasion for Bobi, who is a member of a loving fur family and a beloved pet of his owner, Leonel.

Since Bobi’s recognition as the world’s oldest dog ever in February, many journalists and people from around the world, particularly in Europe, the USA, and Japan, have visited Leonel’s home to take photos of Bobi.
Recently, Leonel took Bobi to the vet for a check-up, concerned about the potential physical and mental stress that the dog may experience from the many visitors.
“There were a lot of pictures taken, and he had to get up and down many times. It wasn’t easy for him,” Leonel said.
However, he added that he is grateful that his beloved pet is now in a better condition, especially on his birthday.
