MPD Clarifies Claims Circulating Online About “Serial Killer” in Manila are Fake News
Manila Police District (MPD) clarified the claims circulating on social media about an alleged “serial killer” wandering in Manila are fake news.
PBGen Andre Dizon, Director of the MPD, delivers a statement to clarify the claims making the rounds on social media. Dizon has categorically denied claims circulating on social media sites that a well-known serial killer is simply shooting people in Tondo, Manila.
According to Dizon, the circulating video and information about the purported serial killer are false. Dizon further stated that such news should not be taken for granted and should not be disseminated because it contains no reality and will simply frighten citizens.
Dizon also stated that there had been a gunshot event in the city involving drug cartels, based on the report. Dizon explained that the shooter was vengeful toward his former coworkers.
“Ito po ay patungkol sa kumakalat na video o kaya mga viral sa ating social media na impormasyon patungkol po dun sa serial killer sa Balut, Tondo. Ito po ay isang fake news na hindi dapat sakyan, hindi dapat i-share. Ang totoo po nito may dalawang shooting incident po doon sa lugar. Yung shooter ginagantihan niya po yung mga dati niyang kasamahan,” Dizon said.
At the same time, Dizon cautioned citizens to stay away from narcotics because it could lead to death. Dizon and Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna are also set to reveal the suspect in the false serial killer news to the public in a press conference at Manila City Hall this evening at 5:00 p.m.
