Over the past few weeks, the Filipino passenger Charmaine Tanteras who experienced an unexpected delay on her way to Israel becomes one of the most discussed topics online. She missed her flight due to a lengthy immigration interview.

The lengthy interview allegedly caused her to miss spending the holiday season with her family in Israel. Despite presenting all the necessary documents and information, the interview lasted for several hours.

The passenger was understandably disappointed and frustrated, as she had been looking forward to spending the holiday season with her family in Israel.

Last week, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) spokesperson Dana Sandoval said that the involved immigration officer has been relieved from his post and reassigned to a back office.

Sandoval explained that secondary inspections in the immigration process is still necessary to prevent illegal recruitment and human trafficking. The officer also clarified that yearbooks or diplomas are not required for travelers who will travel abroad.

Recently, a photo shared by uploader Jim Morales, in which he can be seen wearing a graduation toga at the airport, has received various reactions from netizens.

“Actually po nung isang araw nakita ko ung nagdala ng diploma to make sure makapasok sa immigration. Syempre ako po kinakabahan po ako baka marami itanong sa akin so as comedian na tao dinala ko po ung toga ko para wala nang tanungan,” Morales said.
