Just like Lloyd Torrefiel, 43, from Cebu, who created a business tarpaulin with a picture of a little girl eating balut. He uploaded it on Facebook and, unexpectedly, it went viral. Torrefiel shared that the cute little girl in the tarpaulin is his daughter when she was only four years old.

He said that their family decided to put a picture on the tarpaulin to immediately catch people’s attention. It was a good decision because it is now loved by internet users.

Additionally, he mentioned that they have been selling balut, penoy, siomai, and chili garlic sauce for six years. But because grilled balut is now in demand, they also tried selling it.

For just ₱35, you can buy a grilled balut with their special chili garlic sauce that they make themselves. If you don’t eat balut but want a spicy and delicious dip, you can also buy their chili garlic sauce for ₱55.

Torrefiel’s food stall can be found at Cebu Carbon Market every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 3 PM until 12 midnight.

Meanwhile, Torrefiel’s family was happy when they read the comments of netizens.

Balut is a popular Filipino delicacy that has gained recognition and popularity both locally and internationally. It is a fertilized duck egg that is boiled and consumed while still inside its shell.
