Police Arrests Hold Up Suspect After Lady Victim Remembered His Unforgettable Smile
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – A hold up suspect has been arrested by the authorities after the student victim remembered his smile.
A man was arrested in Manila for robbing a college student. The victim was able to identify the suspect, who later confessed to the crime, based on his clothing and “unforgettable smile”, according to reports. The suspect was identified as Runky Franco, a 28-year-old man.
The incident happened on a Tuesday evening (March 21, 2023), as the victim was waiting for a jeepney after classes. She noticed a man looking at her, and in fear, she immediately gave up her cellphone when the man approached her.
“Biglang dumikit siya sa bandang tagiliran ko po, then tinutukan na ako ng baril at nagsalita ng ‘holdap’. Sinabihan niya ako na huwag sumigaw o gumawa ng ingay, kundi, ipuputok niya ang baril,” the victim said.
The victim reported the incident to the Manila police, who quickly organized a follow-up operation with the victim’s help.
Less than an hour later, the suspect was apprehended. The victim positively identified Franco because of his unforgettable smile, who was wearing the same clothes he wore during the robbery.
“Nung malayo-layo na siya sa akin, bigla na lang po niya ako nginitian,” she added.
The stolen cellphone was recovered from the suspect, along with a .38 caliber gun and two bullets.
During the initial investigation, it was discovered that Franco had been previously arrested for theft. This led the police to vow to increase surveillance in the area and ensure the safety of the public.
The cops also encouraged citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
