PAGASA Says Amihan May End This Week

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Monday (March 20, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the Northeast Monsoon affecting Extreme Northern Luzon. It will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Bicol region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

Weather specialist Obet Badrina said the northeast monsoon may end this week.

“Posible na ngayong linggo ay mag-terminate o matapos na itong panahon ng northeast monsoon o ‘hanging amihan,’” Badrina said.

Badrina said that there is a very minimal chance of a tropical cyclone hitting the country this week.

The Easterlies / Localized Thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over Visayas, Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.

The weather agency warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate while the rest of the archipelago will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
