Fish Owner Expresses Distress to Local Electric Company After His Koi Fish Died During Prolonged Blackout

A fish owner has expressed his frustration after some of his Koi fish died due to a 24-hour power outage in Davao del Norte.

On March 14, 2023, a Facebook user with the username Dean Kirby Redaniel posted several photos of his dead koi fish in a small man-made pond located in Kapalong, Davao del Norte. The post elicits reactions from the online community.

Kirby expressed his deep sadness and frustration over the unfortunate event, stating that he had been taking care of the fish for the past five years, and their untimely demise was unacceptable.

Redaniel went on to express his disappointment with Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Nordeco), the local electricity provider. He claimed that due to a series of power interruptions, he had to resort to purchasing solar oxygen equipment to sustain the koi fish in his pond.

Despite his efforts, the recent power outage lasted for more than a day, and he was not given any prior notice.

“Grabe, Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, Inc. . Almost 5 years nako gi-alagaan pero tungod sa inyong incompetent service, mao ni nahitabo run. 24hrs brownout. Grabe gyud,” Redaniel said.
