Chinese National Accused of Human Trafficking in Pasay Arrested
Police authorities arrested a female Chinese national in Pasay City operation for alleged human trafficking.
A woman was arrested in Pasay City by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for alleged s3x trafficking. The NBI identified the suspect as Wen Fangfang, a Chinese national, in a statement.
According to the NBI, Fangfang was arrested and accused of violating the Anti-Trafficking in People Act of 2003. It was reported that representatives from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Chinese Embassy in Manila assisted the bureau’s International Operations Division (NBI-IOD) in the operation.
It further stated that the operation was carried out based on intelligence received that a group of foreigners are involved in human trafficking activities and are operating in some condominium units in Pasay City via the internet, based on the report of PNA.
According to the NBI, the gang used the Telegram messaging app to publish photographs of girls with corresponding price tags where clients, only foreigners, could choose and hire them. The NBI-IOD performed a number of stakeouts, casing, and internet monitoring activities.
During the monitoring, the agency stated that its agents determined that the operation of the Subjects occurred at Towers 1 and 2 of a condominium in Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay City. Although several Chinese nationals were on the premises, it is uncertain why Fangfang was the sole individual apprehended and subsequently charged. Fangfang was charged with breaching RA 9208, as amended by RA 10364.
