Lyca Gairanod opened up about the insecurity she felt before
Singer-actress Lyca Gairanod said that having dark skin makes her feel that people would always comment that she is not beautiful.
Lyca rose to fame as a contestant in The Voice Kids. With her background, it is quite unexpected that someone like her has a golden voice. Aside from her talent, her determination to reach her dream despite hardships brought her to her current status.
Just like many celebrities who came from a simple life before stardom, Lyca admitted that she had insecurities also, based on the article in Bandera.
In a recent interview, Lyca Gairanod shared that before entering the entertainment industry, she has no concern when it comes to her looks. “Parang sobrang wala po akong pakialam sa face ko,” she said.
She was somehow confident that even though she does not look as beautiful as other girls, she knows she is smart and she excels at singing.
However, this changed when she started to grow up. “And then only when I get older na na-conscious na po ako sa itsura ko. Pero I am proud of this girl, I love her,” the singer shared.
She admitted that she was insecure about her dark skin and because of this, people would sometimes tease her and would call her hurtful words.
“Siyempre po kapag nabibilad ka sa araw, tapos parang nagda-dark ‘yung skin mo, parang sinasabi nila ‘ang pangit mo.’ Tinitingnan ko sa salamin ang sarili ko na parang ‘oo nga ‘no.’ Pero dumating po ako sa point na ‘ginawa ako ni mama, ginawa ako ni papa, eto ako,” Lyca Gairanod shared her realization.
She added that she knows herself and she loves who she is. The singer also said that she is proud of what she has now.
