Authorities Discovered High-powered Weapons in the House of Teves

Police authorities discovered high-powered weapons during their raid in the house of Negros Oriental 3rd district Rep Arnulfo Arnie Teves.

Police recovered approximately 15 short and high-powered firearms, explosives, and ammunition from three houses in the Negros Oriental town of Bayawan. Congressman Arnulfo “Arnie” Teves is alleged to own one of the houses attacked in Bayawan City.

However, the other two are suspected to belong to Congressman Teves’ relatives, according to Police Colonel Thomas Valmonte, chief of the Legal Section of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), in an interview with journalists. Valmonte, however, indicated that these actions are unrelated to the March 4 assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

According to the report, a CIDG officer stated that the execution of the search warrant granted by the Mandaue City Regional Trial Court on five residences, including a beach resort in Basay town, is part of the CIDG’s flagship program against stray guns. According to Valmonte, the operation was prompted by allegations of loose guns in the vicinity.

According to him, Teves owns two residences in Basay town, and one of the three houses attacked in Bayawan City belongs to the congressman. The CIDG official also stated that the other two residences raided in Bayawan were owned by Hannah Mae and Jojo Maturan, who may be Teves’ relatives.
