Travel Clearance of Cong. Arnie Teves Expires, Camp Confirms Request for Extension

ARNIE TEVES – The Congressman’s camp confirmed that he requested the House of Representatives for an extension of his trip abroad amid the accusation against him over the death of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

The police authorities previously expressed that they are in the finishing touches already with regards to the investigation over the death of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo. Three (3) suspects are in the custody of the authorities and they have investigated the vehicles used by the suspects.

Degamo was attacked at his home in Pamplona last Saturday, March 4. Men wearing pixelated uniforms entered their compound and lodged their motive. His ally and several civilians also died due to the incident.

One of the suspects accused Cong. Arnie Teves as the alleged mastermind in the killing of his political rival, Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo. The slain Governor unseated his younger brother, Pryde Henry Teves, when the Commission on Elections (Comelec) declared him as the rightful winner of the May 2022 gubernatorial elections.

Teves is currently in abroad. Prior to the incident, the Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative has secured a Travel Clearance from the House of Representatives for his treatment abroad. Before he was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the death of Gov. Roel Degamo, he released a video where he spoke about allegedly receiving information that he will be pinned down in the Governor’s death.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the camp of Cong. Arnie Teves confirmed that he sought an extension of his trip abroad. His Travel Clearance expired last Thursday. However, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said that they cannot act on the said request as there must be specific information.

“All we have is the request filed by the COS (Chief of Staff) of Congressman Teves. But as we have said, under our House rules, specific place and time, dates, are very important before we act on your request,” Velasco said.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez also advises Cong. Teves to go home and face the accusations. The national government assured the Degamo family and the families of the other victims that their death will be given justice.
