P2-M worth of Epson Fake Printer Ink Seized in Quiapo – NBI

NBI Confiscated P2-M worth of Epson Fake Printer Ink in Quiapo

The personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confiscated P2 million worth of fake Epson printer ink in Quiapo.

The NBI raided two condominium units in Quiapo, Manila, and seized over 7,000 bottles of counterfeit Epson printer ink valued at P2 million. According to the NBI statement, the condo units operate as the warehouse of the BMK E-Commerce Park’s office supply trader.

The National Bureau of Investigation discovered 1,518 bottles of bogus ink from one unit and 5,774 bottles from the eighth. According to Jonathan Selvasegaram, head of React’s Asia-Pacific division, the raid was in response to a request from Seiko Epson Corp.’s Singapore office, which was received through React, a global non-profit organization that fights counterfeit items.

Six online dealers, according to Selvasegaram, are selling bogus ink made by the same person. The raid, which resulted in the seizure of the most counterfeit Epson ink bottles to date, “clearly reflects the dedication of Filipino law enforcement agencies, particularly the NBI, to combat the trafficking in counterfeit goods,” Selvasegaram said.

He emphasized that the online sale of counterfeit products is a global issue, not just in the Philippines. Based on the report, the NBI’s campaign against counterfeit ink products is reported to have helped their business.

Despite this, it was stated that the battle against illegal commerce is not only the responsibility of the authorities. Selvasegaram needs everyone’s help to combat the counterfeiting epidemic that is harming legal vendors, consumers, product makers’ reputations, and the economy in general.

To combat the flow of counterfeit ink sold online, Epson Philippines published a list of authorized sellers. Customers can contact and purchase from these stores to ensure that they are receiving genuine printer ink as well as other Epson products.
