Authorities will investigate if the firearms are registered. Two of the apprehended individuals are former soldiers, according to the Philippine Army. Pelare claimed they were dishonorably discharged from the military owing to absences without leave and drug-related incidents.

Based on the report, on Saturday morning, armed men opened fire on Degamo and five others while the official was giving relief at his home in Pamplona, Negros Oriental. An initial investigation found that Degamo was shot by six men wearing pixelized clothes and carrying long weapons.
