PNP Gives Warning Not to Intervene in Their Investigation in Hazing Death Case

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has given a warning to the public not to intervene in their hazing death case investigation.

The PNP issued a warning on Friday, March 3 to anyone who interferes with the investigation into hazing-related deaths. This follows the death of 24-year-old Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig, who died as a result of fraternity-related hazing.

The PNP issues a strong warning to anybody, regardless of position or status, that any attempt to intervene and meddle in the investigation and prosecution of the aforementioned matter would not be permitted. Also, they have notified all units to assist one another and to employ all available resources to solve the issue.

According to reports, Salilig attended the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity’s initiation procedures before going missing on February 18. His body was discovered ten days earlier in a deserted lot in Imus, Cavite.

Salilig died as a result of “severe blunt force injuries in the lower extremities,” according to the autopsy report. According to the witness, the victim got 70 blows from the members of the gang.

Six Tau Gamma members are currently facing legal action in connection with Salilig’s death: Earl Anthony Romero, Tung Cheng Teng, Jerome Balot, Sandro Victorino, Michael Lambert Ritalde, and Mark Pedrosa.
