Ogie Diaz made clarifications about his cut from the TF of artists he handles
Talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz explained the commission that he gets from the talent fees of his former talents Vice Ganda and Liza Soberano.
The issue about the talent fee cut surfaced after a netizen accused Ogie of getting a 40 percent commission from Liza’s talent fee. On Twitter, the talent manager answered this accusation in a funny way but stressed that in reality, it was just 20 percent.
In a recent vlog, Ogie made an elaborate explanation of this. To answer the basher’s accusation, he explained that as a manager, he also invests in his talents.
He said that at first, building up an artist is like giving birth to a child. Managers spend money on the artists’ outfits and things they need. Ogie Diaz said that it is a common rule that from the beginning managers would get a 30 percent commission from the artists’ talent fees.
However, he said that he broke his own rule when he handled Liza. It is because he saw her determination, he just got a 20 percent commission from the actress.
When it comes to Vice Ganda, the talent manager explained that they have been friends for many years. It was the Unkabogable Star who encouraged Ogie Diaz to manage him. Back then, Vice said that his fellow stand-up comedians like K Brosas and Ate Gay were already doing mainstream and he wanted to enter showbiz as well.
With this, Vice wants Ogie to manage her. The talent manager revealed that Vice offered a 50-50 setup just for Ogie to be convinced to manage him. However, Ogie is not that “swapang” so, he just sticks to the 20 percent commission.
