Erik Matti Says John Arcilla Is Gaslighting Him In Private Messages

Erik Matti has this new “banat” against John Arcilla

Director Erik Matti told John Arcilla to stop gaslighting him in private messages after his rant against the actor and Star Cinema for not mentioning the movie On The Job: The Missing 8.

The issue between Direk Erik and John started when the latter did not mention the director in his post about being recognized by the Senate for winning the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 78th Venice International Film Festival for the aforementioned movie.

Direk Erik ranted on social media saying that it was fine if he was not mentioned in John’s post but even the title of the movie was not mentioned.

Following that tirade from the award-winning director, the actor shared posts tagging Direk Erik and stressed that they are a team.

The issue did not stop there. Direk Erik shared in a recent Instagram post a photo with Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo who is also part of the movie but his caption is directed to John Arcilla.

“Hi @johnarcilla . Please stop gaslighting me in your private messages making me feel like I overreacted on your deliberate remiss to mention our film On The Job: The Missing 8 that gave you the Volpi Cup in the Venice Film Festival,” Erik Matti wrote.

The filmmaker also stressed that John’s effort to mention him in his posts again and again after he called the actor’s attention “feels like a sarcastic insulting mention.” Direk Erik said that he has no intention to make John feel that he should be thanked because the actor’s performance in the movie is his.

Then, the director said that they should move on from this. “Let’s move on from this. And I mean move on from this. As in, now. Your social media posts are different from your private messages to me. Stop posting just for damage control,” he said.

Direk Erik Matti also said that he just wanted to point out that whatever they achieve in the industry, it is done by a team. He ended his post with this statement: “You are not the film. I am not the film. A film is the sum of everyone working on it not just you and me. This ends now.”

What can you say about this?
