Man Arrested P3.7-M worth of Kush from Canada Seized in Subic

Authorities arrested a man after P3.7 million worth of illegal drugs called “Kush” that was allegedly from Canada seized in Subic.

A 32-year-old man was detained when a shipment containing 3.7 million dollars in Canadian kush (high-grade marijuana) was confiscated. According to the report, the unlawful parcel was recovered this Monday during a controlled delivery operation on Sulu Street, Crown Peak Gardens, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Federico Cesar Flores-Luna, alias Nestor Bustamante, 32, of Opal BLDG Crown Peak Gardens, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, was identified as the consignee. After accepting the parcel carrying illegal substances, he was promptly handcuffed.

On February 19, the shipment arrived from Canada at the Port of Clark. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Zambales identified the substances after receiving information from their foreign colleagues.

A physical examination revealed five pouches containing about 2,336 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tips. According to the report, the illegal substances have a street worth of P3,737,600.

The PDEA Zambales Provincial Office led the operation, which involved members of the Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark, and the BOC Port of Subic. The PDEA is developing a prosecution against Flores-Luna for violating Section 4 (importation of dangerous pharmaceuticals) of Republic Act 9165.
