Teacher Accused of Humiliating a Grade 4 Student in Silay City Arrested
Police authorities arrested a teacher after being accused of humiliating a grade 4 student in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
A Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) instructor was arrested for humiliating a pupil the previous year. The teacher allegedly cursed, kicked, and pushed a Grade 4 student in Silay City, Negros Occidental, according to the report.

Maria Lourdes Panes, of Cinco de Noviembre Street, Barangay III, Silay City, Negros Occidental, was identified as the suspect. Panes works as a teacher at Silay South Elementary School, based on the report.
Silay Tracker Team performed a Charlie Manhunt operation, which culminated in the arrest of the accused. Panes was arrested on the basis of an arrest warrant in the instance of breach of Republic Act 7610 or the ‘Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act’.
Catherine Pabuaya, the mother of the Grade 4 student, filed a complaint at the Silay City Police Station after learning that Panes reportedly ridiculed her son in class on October 18, 2022.
After the incident went viral on social media, the child refused to attend school. The teacher was allowed to pay a P80,000 bond for his interim release by the court.
