Isko Moreno Interviews Karen Davila on Iskovery Night
KAREN DAVILA – The veteran news reporter revealed the amount of the first salary she received as a GMA-7 reporter.
In the field of Philippine media, one of the most popular names is news reporter Karen Davila. Although she started her career in journalism as a reporter under GMA-7, her big break undeniably came when she was with ABS-CBN network.
Karen was one of the main hosts of the Kapamilya news program TV Patrol and Bandila for several years. She was also part of ABS-CBN Headlines and The Correspondents. She is married to TV5’s News5 Operations Head DJ Sta. Ana and they have two (2) sons, David and Lucas.
Currently, Karen Davila is one of the reporters who have joined the celebrities who are into vlogging. She has her own YouTube channel which now has 1.43 million subscribers. She has interviewed many of the most popular personalities in different fields.
Recently, it went a different way – Karen Davila was the one interviewed by former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. He has started his own YouTube channel, Isko Moreno Domagoso, with a segment called “Iskovery Night”.
During the interview, Karen revealed that being a journalist was not her first choice then. She’s good in drawing and she wanted to be fashion designer. She wanted a full scholarship then and go to New York to take the course. Then, her parents could not afford it as his father lost his job and they rely to their small business so she wanted a scholarship. However, her application for a scholarship was rejected.
Karen Davila shared that she went to the University of the Philippines (UP) after it to take Fine Arts but her father thought that she will not make money from it. That was when she turned to her other love, writing, and took Mass Communication.
During the interview, Karen Davila revealed that, in 1993, she did not pass in channel 5. She was accepted by ANC and GMA-7 and she took the latter saying that it was a morning show.
