Robin Padilla Wants to Stop “Plane” of Gerard Butler Airing in the Philippines

Senator Robin Padilla appealed to stop the “Plane” film of Gerard Butler from airing all over the Philippines.

The Senator spoke out against the film “Plane,” starring Gerard Butler. The actor-public servant notably complained about sequences depicting bad and frightening pictures of the country, which he described as worrisome.

Sen. Robin petitioned the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to prevent the distribution of “Plane” in Philippine theaters. It is claimed to be blatant damage to the Philippines’ reputation, which could affect the economy, especially now that the government is attempting to scent and beautify the country.

“Alam niyo po napakasakit lang po…dito sa kanilang pelikula sinasabi ang ating otoridad ay naduwag na sa mga rebelde, hindi na po sila umaaksyon. At sinabi pa dito ‘they went down somewhere in the Jolo island cluster. It’s run by separatists and militias the Filipino armies were not there anymore,” Robin said stimulatingly in the Senate’s session yesterday.

“Hindi po dapat ito tanggapin. Sana po, nakikiusap po tayo sa ating MTRCB na sana po sa mga ganitong ganap kumakatok tayo sa opisina nila, ‘di po dapat ito pinapalabas sa Pilipinas. Dito po dapat sa ating bansa pinagbabawal ito at kino-condemn po natin ito,” the senator argued.

Based on the article of Bandera, the senator stated unequivocally that the lifestyle of our compatriots in Mindanao will undoubtedly be impacted, particularly in Jolo, the setting for the Hollywood film.

“Reputasyon po ng Inang Bayan ang pinag-uusapan dito. Alam niyo po, pagka tayo pag pinaguusapan natin ang bayan natin at mga diprensya, okay lang ‘yan kasi trabaho natin ‘yan. Pero pagka ibang bansa na po ang bumabanat sa atin dapat ‘di dapat tayo pumapayag,” he said.

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri concurred, saying that the Philippines must protest Gerard Butler’s film. He also stated that he alerted President Bongbong Marcos of the situation.

Senator Bato dela Rosa stated that it portrays a negative image of our country in which outsiders are decapitated. The producers of that film are instilling fear in immigrants, according to the senator. According to Gerard Butler, they crashed landed somewhere in Davao, Southern Philippines, before determining their precise position, which was Jolo.

  1. I agree to ban the showing of this film here in the Philippines. This is the work of the GLOBALISTS, the ILLUMINATE, the CABAL the OLIGARCHS to shame and control us ALL FILIPINOs and distract or focus and attention for the WEALTH of the WORLD kept here in the Philippines. The promised of President FEM that this NATION CAN BE GREAT AGAIN will now happen in our eyes. God bless us all. the MAHARLIKANS.

  2. Senators should also ban films/documentaries depict the poverty, corruption, human trafficking, violence and etc. Like our policemen are portrayed as corrupt and violent.

  3. Banning the film locally definitely does not. have international impact…but at least we have a say and stood our ground, which I totally believe is the right thing to do…
