Rabiya Mateo talked about what she felt during the Miss Universe 2020 pageant
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo revealed she was “feeling lost” during the international pageant.
Rabiya is one of the pageant aspirants who won a national title for the first time she joined a national pageant. She started her pageant journey by joining Miss Iloilo and she won. That gave her a chance to represent her hometown in the national pageant and again, she got the title.
Then, she was sent to represent the Philippines in the most prestigious international pageant. In a recent interview, Rabiya was asked to give advice to pageant aspirants, based on the article in Bandera.
“Ang dami kong gustong sabihin pero ‘yung pinakapuso talaga of my advice is that don’t be scared to be yourself,” Rabiya Mateo shared. She said that during her time, she thought certain things being imposed on her would make her win the title. She thought that if she will not follow what was being told to her to do, she will not succeed.
“I ended up feeling so lost and you know having regrets in my head,” the Kapuso star revealed. She added that whatever decision the aspiring beauty queens will have, they should make sure that this is their decision and not the decision of the people around them.
“Simple things lang ‘yun pero at the end of the day, kapag sinunod mo kung ano ‘yung nasa puso mo, whatever the result is, manalo ka o matalo, you’re happy because that’s you,” she explained.
Although there are still a lot of people who are encouraging her and anticipating that she will join another pageant, it appeared that Rabiya Mateo has no plan of joining again. She would want to focus on her showbiz career now.
