PAGASA Says LPA’s Trough, Amihan and Shear Line to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the shear line and amihan will still bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Tuesday (January 31, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The trough of LPA, amihan and shear line will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA said that the shear line is expected to bring rain showers and thunderstorms over the Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao while the northeast monsoon or amihan will be affecting Luzon.

The LPA’s trough will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Eastern and Central portion of Visayas and the southern portion of Palawan.

The shear line will also bring similar weather condition over Eastern and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Sorsogon, Albay, and Catanduanes.

The northeast monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of MIMAROPA and Bicol Region.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over the remaining parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon and Visayas will be moderate to rough. The eastern section of Mindanao will experience a moderate sea condition while the rest of Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea condition.

“Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” Pagasa states.
