Scammer Poses as “Willie Revillame” and Called a Woman to Scam Her
Woman loses P10,000 from scam after an alleged scammer poses as Wowowin host “Willie Revillame” and promises her cash prize.
Instead of receiving assistance, a woman who requested assistance on the TV show ‘Wowowin’ was stolen of cash money. Ruvy Gael, a Brgy inhabitant, was recognized as the victim. Talisoy, Jomalig, and Quezon are all places in Quezon.
According to the victim’s police statement, she was watching Wowowin on her mobile when she thought of responding in the comment section to help her brother. According to her, she commented on the treatment of her brother, who has a head wound.
She commented, “Sir kahit panggamot lang ng kapatid kong bunso na di naaalis ang sugat sa ulo. Sana po matawagan niyo kami”, at saka nito inilagay ang kanyang cellphone number.”
Afterward, she received a phone call from Willie Revillame, the show’s host, who informed her that she had won P10,000. She was told to travel to the nearest G Cash Remittance Center to claim her award.
However, the caller instructed the unaware victim to cash into a GCash account, instead of cashing out. The scammer provides the phone number 09351055265 and the name Wenalyn T.
The victim was taken aback when the G Cash teller charged her the P10,000 she had deposited to the specified account number. The victim was coerced into paying and then reported to the authorities.
