Bongbong Marcos Admits Entering Politics for Family’s “Survival” Following Exile

Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on What Led Him To Enter Philippine Politics

BONGBONG MARCOS – The 65-year-old President admitted that he entered the Philippine political arena for the “survival” of his family after the exile.

The Marcoses are among the most popular personalities in the Philippine political arena. Following the victory of now-President Bongbong Marcos during the May 2022 Presidential Elections, two (2) of the members of the family have served as the chief executive of the country.

The Marcos patriarch, the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was the country’s president and dictator for around 20 years. However, he was ousted during the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. The Marcos family had their exile to Hawaii and they were not allowed to come home until after the death of the family’s patriarch.

When they returned to the Philippines, they have loyal Marcos supporters and several members of the family still managed to be in public service. Marcos Jr. has served the province of Ilocos before he became a Senator.

In 2022, Marcos Jr. ran for president and won the highest position in the government with a landslide victory. The now-President’s candidacy is undeniably one of the most controversial election bids in the country.

Recently, speaking to World Economic Forum (WEF) President Borge Brende, Pres. Bongbong Marcos revealed that he initially did not want to enter politics after the “sacrifices” of his father. However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, for his own family’s survival aside from protecting his late father’s legacy, he took the path to the political arena.

“So that at least, not only the legacy of my father but even our own survival required that somebody go into politics,” the Chief Executive said.

According to the President, with politics as his career now, he wants to work hard and do it well and the best he can.
