Senator Win Gatchalian Reacts on Shutdown of KFC Branch in Pasig City
Senator Win Gatchalian expresses reactions to the shutdown order against KFC fast-food branch in Pasig City.
KFC, or Kentucky Fried Chicken, is a fast-food restaurant brand based in the United States with over 300 locations in the Philippines. However, the Pasig City government has issued an order to close one of its branches.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto recently revealed that their local government unit had shut down a branch of the fast-food chain KFC in the city due to several irregularities. He stated in his Facebook post that the fast-food business dumps wastewater in the creek known as “sebo.”
According to him, the establishment is also operating without environmental permission. However, the city mayor stated that once the KFC location obtained the proper permissions and documentation, it may begin operations.
“Pinasara ng LGU ang KFC Kapasigan kanina. Grabe yung kapal ng sebo, waste water nila diretso sa Parian Creek. Wala ring Environmental Permit to Operate. Maaari silang magbukas ulit kapag may EPO na. I love KFC, but I share this as a warning to other establishments,” he noted in a post.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian was among those who responded to Vico Sotto’s announcement. The senator stated in the comments area of the local mayor’s article that the fast-food chain’s image will be harmed as a result of what transpired.
“This is terrible, especially from a known brand. Masisira KFC sa ganyan,” he commented. A Twitter user named @jamkutch responded to his comment, by saying: “Mediocre comment. Aren’t you a senator? Don’t just tweet, you’re not a teenager. Also, you tweet like one.”
