Police authorities arrested a soldier who went Absent Without Proper Leave (AWOL) for robbing a pawnshop in Cavite.

According to the report, the soldier robbed a pawn store in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite. The CCTV footage from inside the pawnshop shows that there were not many people in the pawnshop when the suspect walked in.

He quickly pointed his rifle at the cashier and demanded the cashier’s valuables, based on the report. The suspect was not happy after receiving the money and stole the cell phone off the table.

Fearful of the crime, the female victim instantly hid under the table. The suspect continued on his way as if nothing had happened. Later, a pawnshop client entered, and it was then that the victim requested assistance from the authorities.

The PNP immediately began backtracking, and with the assistance of LGU CCTV footage, the police soon tracked down the suspect’s public cars. The culprit was finally apprehended in a follow-up operation by authorities because the tricycle he was riding pointed at him.

The culprit was apprehended at his uncle’s house in Barangay Olaes and is no longer on the loose. The victim’s money and telephone were recovered from him. The.40 caliber gun used in the heist was recovered, as was the grenade and many sachets of suspected shabu from the suspect.

The suspect, a 47-year-old man, joined the army in the year 2000 and left the service in 2014. According to the PNP, the pawnshop did not have a guard, which could be why the suspect targeted it.

Furthermore, the crime was conducted in the middle of the day, when it was hot, and there were few people in the neighborhood. The suspect, who is already detained at the General Mariano Alvarez Police Station, faces robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and explosives, and a violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
