3 LGU Security Officers Shot Dead by Unknown Suspects in South Cotabato

Three (3) local government unit (LGU) security officers died after being shot in a series of shooting in South Cotabato.

Authorities are actively investigating the true motive behind the shootings of three local government employees in Polomolok, Cotabato City. Three days after two other victims were gunned down, gunmen killed another member of the Civil Security Unit.

According to South Cotabato Provincial Police Director Col. Nathaniel Villegas, the victim, Donald Cabigas, 65, died on the spot from several bullet wounds. Aside from Cabigas, the incident also claimed the lives of Bonifacio Cabisada, 58, and Jessie Arciete, 56.

According to the police report, two shooters entered Cabigas’ business in Tuazon Subdivision at about 12:30 yesterday (Monday) and shot him in various places of the body. Following the gunfire, the suspects fled and ran into the middle of the road, where the motorcyclist was waiting and sped away.

According to the CCTV footage, the suspects were both wearing hats and full face masks and carrying firearms. On January 8, 2023, the assailants attacked and shot Cabisada and Arciete, who were both riding their motorcycles in the area.

Cabisada and Arciete were riding their respective motorcycles along the road covered by the town’s Barangay Bentung. Polomolok-PNP is currently undertaking an extensive investigation to determine the true purpose and identities of the suspects in order to arrest them immediately.
