Jodi Sta Maria talked about her acting career
Award-winning actress Jodi Sta Maria shared her “new purpose” aside from being the one acting in front of the camera.
Jodi is indeed an achiever. Despite her busy schedule, the actress was able to pursue her desire to finish her degree in Psychology. After she graduated last year, she is thinking of several options for what to do next.
During a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer, Jodi share that if she will not pursue medicine, she can be a therapist or a counselor. There is also an option that she can pursue higher studies like a Master’s or Ph.D. Another option is that she can be an instructor and just need to take education units.
The actress also said that she can do this while still working because it will not take much of her time. “I realized that this is possible even if you have work. You do it once a week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” Jodi Sta Maria said.
Aside from her possible profession outside showbiz, the actress also talked about the new purpose she found in the entertainment industry. She said that mentoring can be her new purpose. Jodi shared that when she was doing the ‘Labyu with an Accent’ with Coco Martin, she was so excited about creating her new character.
“When we [Kriz Gazmen, head of ABS-CBN Films] were chatting about my process in creating characters, he told me, ‘Why don’t you facilitate a workshop on this?'” she said. However, at that time, she felt that she did not have the authority to do workshops. It is because she also seeks help from acting coaches when doing projects.
“I learn other acting techniques from them so that when I join the war, so to speak, I’m ready,” the actress shared. On the other hand, Jodi Sta Maria said that she does not mind sharing bits and pieces of what she learned over the years with younger artists.
She wants to highlight hard work and patience to the younger generation. Respect for senior stars is also a must for her, as well as the ability to get along with co-workers. Lastly, Jodi stressed the importance of “dreaming and aiming for your goals.”
