Police Authorities Arrest Male Employee for Installing Spy Camera at Female’s Restroom
A male employee in Mandaluyong City has been arrested for installing a spy camera in a female’s comfort room.
The Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) of Eastern Police District discovered a high-tech ‘pamboboso’ (peeping) at an office in Barangay Plainview, Mandaluyong City. The culprit installed a small CCTV camera at the female restroom’s sink.
A female worker found a tiny spy camera covered in aluminum foil with a power bank attached to it. The woman immediately reported it to the police authorities, according to PNP-ACG Public Information Office Police Lt. Col. Jay Guillermo.
“May video camera, nakita nila. Purpose nito, recording. It can capture videos ng mga babae na gumagamit ng specific restroom na iyon,” Guillermo said.
According to the police investigation, the company’s liaison officer identified as Wilfredo Mendoza entered the female’s restroom before the spy camera has been discovered.
The suspect even tried to escape but his fellow workers apprehended and stopped him. Eventually, the police authorities were able to arrest Mendoza. The latter refused to give a statement regarding the incident.
Mendoza will face charges for violation of the Republic Act 9995 or the Anti Photo and Video Voyeurism Act, according to Guillermo.
“Sa ifa-file na kaso ng imbestigador Republic Act 9995. Ito ‘yug anti photo and video voyeurism act, section 5 ng republic Act 9692, ito ‘yung violence against women and children at Republic Act 11313. Ito ;yung safe space act o bawal bastos act,” Guillermo added.
