Grab Rider Reported Illegal Drug Delivery Attempt to a Vietnamese in Makati

Police authorities arrested a Vietnamese national over an illegal drug delivery deal in reported by a Grab rider in Makati City.

On Sunday, January 1, a Grab delivery rider successfully intercepted what was supposed to be a drug trade. This came after he informed Makati City Police that a Vietnamese national had assigned him to deliver a box containing illegal drugs.

Vietnamese Grab Rider Drug

The rider received a delivery booking from two Vietnamese nationals at Lerato Tower at Malugay Street, Barangay Bel Air, according to the police report. When the parcel arrived, he asked the foreigners what was inside.

The two foreign nationals, on the other hand, refuse to speak and ignore him. This prompted the rider to inspect the contents of the parcel, which turned out to contain illegal substances.

The Grab passenger promptly reported the incident to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Office of the Makati City Police Station (SIDMS). On the same day, operators staged an entrapment operation against the parcel’s recipient in front of the Island Tower Condominium.

The suspect was identified as Nguyen Luong Hai, a 30-year-old Vietnamese man. A red eco-bag carrying a package of face masks and a pack of smokes, a plastic bag with shabu worth P6,800, and an iPhone XS Max were recovered from the suspect.

Based on the report, a complaint alleging a violation of Section 11, Art. R.A. 9165, Section II, is being prepared against the arrested suspect, who is now being held at the Makati City Police Station.
