According to the report, the fake cop would be prosecuted with Article 117 (Usurpation of Authority) and Theft after stealing from a supermarket while pretending to be a cop. In the same case, the suspect was recently apprehended by the PNP-CIDG in Quezon City.

According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect entered a store while wearing a PNP SAF ID with the rank of Police Colonel and a black face mask with the SAF logo. Because of what he was wearing, the store staff assumed he was a member of the SAF.

When they analyzed the CCTV footage, they discovered that the suspect consumed two drinks. Employees at the grocery also testified that they kept track of his shopping habits.

The suspect’s black shoulder bag contained two bottles of Alfonso I Platinum Solera, as well as some PNP SAF IDs. When questioned if he was a member of the PNP, he stated that he was not.

The apprehended individual and obtained material were taken to Solano Police Station for recording and disposition. The public is reminded once more that civilians are not permitted to wear any gear or equipment designed solely for police use.
