FIFA to Probe Salt Bae After Gatecrashing and Annoying Antics at World Cup Final
The celebrity chef Salt Bae was put in hot water due to his annoying antics at the FIFA World Cup Final 2022.
Salt Bae, a Turkish chef, and restaurateur whose real name is Nusret Gokce, has received wrath from the online community after being spotted among Argentina’s joyful players following their penalty shoot-out victory over France. He was photographed with Lionel Scaloni’s stars, including Lionel Messi, and appeared to be annoying others by clutching the World Cup trophy for additional photo chances.
Only a restricted number of people can touch and hold the Fifa World Cup Trophy, which is made of solid gold and shows two figures holding up the globe. According to FIFA, this includes former winners and heads of state.
Football fans were outraged after Mr. Gokce, a social media sensation, was seen on the field “grabbing” Argentina’s great player Lionel Messi. Mr. Gokce grabs Messi’s arm again when he appears to ignore him, and the footballer turns around and hastily shakes his hand before walking away.
Mr. Gokce afterward tweeted a TikTok video of himself standing on the pitch with the trophy, next to Angel Di Maria. The chef smiles and slaps the award before walking away in the video.
Another photo shows him biting Franco Armani’s gold first-place medal while it was still wrapped around the goalkeeper’s neck. Sky Sports claims that the famous steak chef should not have been on the field at all.
In a statement, a Fifa spokesperson said: “Following a review, Fifa has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on 18 December. The appropriate internal action will be taken.”
