Jodi Sta Maria is aiming to go international
Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta Maria admitted that she also wants to start an acting career in Hollywood.
Several Filipinos have already penetrated the entertainment industry in the U.S. and this is something that Jodi is aiming for also. This came after she got her 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards best actress trophy in Singapore for her performance in the Philippine adaptation of the British drama series The Broken Marriage Vow.
Based on the article in Inquirer, Jodi shared that she aims to be recognized internationally. She shared that she talked to Dreamscape business unit head Deo Endrinal about her plan to start a career in Hollywood. It was said that she has been entertaining the thought of having her foreign talent agent.
“I asked him, ‘Would it be too ambitious of me if I try to get an agent or start sending audition reels to production companies [in Hollywood]?’ I thought, who knows, I might get a call back!” Jodi Sta Maria shared what she said to Deo Endrinal.
The actress said that she will never know what will happen if she won’t try. She acknowledges the fact that international collaborations are happening now and this is giving more opportunities.
“I’m considering trying because I don’t what to keep thinking of the ‘What ifs?’ If I get projects, well and good; if not, at least I can say I was brave enough to try,” Jodi said.
This idea of going international was prompted by her shoot abroad for her movie Labyu With An Accent with Coco Martin. Because of this, she was able to work with Filipinos and Filipino-Americans on the production team.
She asked them about the audition process in Hollywood and she was told that it is very vital to have an agent who is based there.
