Active Police Officer Jailed for Robbing a Gas Station in Bohol
Authorities arrested an active police officer who was addicted to gambling for allegedly robbing a gas station in Bohol.
The police officer robbed a gasoline station at Barangay Poblacion in Trinidad town, Bohol Province, according to Police Colonel Lorenzo Alfeche Batuan, police director of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO). Conchito Payac, a Police Staff Sergeant, was identified as the suspect.
The suspect, 33, was revealed to be a working desk officer at the Dauis Police Station. According to Batuan, the Trinidad Police Station got information about a robbery that occurred this Saturday afternoon at a petrol station in Purok 4, Poblacion.
Payac was apprehended after the motorcycle he was riding during the robbery was discovered in Brgy. Soom, Trinidad, shortly after the incident. Payac is facing robbery charges as well as intimidation and violence against individuals, as well as an administrative case.
According to the report Cebu Daily News, the suspect was involved in illegal gambling, including cockfighting. It is also said that this had a pecuniary impact on him, prompting him to commit the heist.
Payac was also charged with two other crimes in the municipalities of Alicia and Duero in Bohol province on December 1 and 7, respectively, where petroleum stations were robbed. According to the report, the suspect is self-sufficient.
