Police Sacked for Shooting Traffic Enforcer in Quezon City

Police who Allegedly Shooting Traffic Enforcer to Death in Quezon City Sacked

Authorities sacked police who was allegedly involved in a shooting incident that killed a traffic enforcer in Quezon City.

The People’s Law Enforcement Board of Quezon City (PLEB) has fired a police officer accused of killing a traffic enforcer on October 13 in Quezon City. This is what the city’s local government said on Tuesday, December 13.

“In its six-page decision, the PLEB QC removed [Police Lieutenant Felixberto Tiquil] from service stemming from grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer charges…,” according to the QC’s Public Affairs and Information Services Department in a statement.

Charlyn Pagsibigan, the common-law wife of the murdered traffic enforcer Edgar Abad Follero, submitted these accusations. Paul Timothy Delos Reyes, who was assisted by the victim in the incident, was among those who submitted the complaint.

The Board does not trust Tiquil’s claim that he mistook Follero and Delos Reyes for motorcycle thieves, according to PLEB executive officer Rafael Calinisan. According to Calinisan, this is an obvious violation of the PNP Rules of Procedure.

“Further, Tiquil also claims to have chased the victims from Nagtahan, Manila up to Roosevelt, Quezon City. How can people pushing a defective motorcycle outrun a seasoned cop on a motorbike? We are more than convinced that Tiquil was not being truthful in his narrative of what happened,” he added.

Follero simply assisted his friend Delos Reyes, a delivery rider, when his vehicle broke down in Pandacan, Manila, according to the QC LGU. Follero assisted Delos Reyes in pushing his motorcycle from Pandacan, and when they arrived in Roosevelt, Quezon City, the police stopped the two at the same time, shooting the first one to death.

Based on the report, Follero attempted to flee to the nearest police station but was unable to do so. Tiquil threatened Delos Reyes with a revolver and caused him to collapse on the road. Tuiqil has been charged with murder, according to the Quezon City Police District.

“The resolution of this case is a triumph for justice. In less than 60 days from the filing of the complaint, the PLEB was able to resolve this matter with utmost impartiality and dispatch,” according to QC Mayor Joy Belmonte.

“The wheels of justice run fast here in Quezon City, without fear or favor. I again commend the PLEB QC for their prompt action in helping out the ‘little one’ in need,” she added.
