Rica Peralejo shared her thoughts on the “snobbish celebrities” issue
Celebrity vlogger Rica Peralejo reacted to a netizen who said that she was snobbish during the height of her career as an actress.
Rica was one of the child stars in the 90s who eventually did teen roles until she became a serious actress. However, Rica left the entertainment industry and in several interviews, she has shared the reason why she chose to leave.
In 2018, she was offered to have her showbiz comeback but she refused the offer from her former home network ABS-CBN. It was a lead role in a series but Rica chose to give more importance to her personal life at that time. She and her husband Joseph Bonifacio was planning to have their second baby when that happened.
During the height of her career, indeed Rica Peralejo was one of the in-demand actresses at that time. Fans wanting to have photos with her was a normal scenario.
However, as recent issues surfaced about “snobbish celebrities” caught the attention of the online community, Rica received a question from a netizen who asked her why she was snobbish before, based on the article in Bandera.
The netizen said that Rica would refuse to have picture-taking with her fans back then. She said that this is one of the issues that she has been wanting to address. Rica said that she started her career at 12.
“And I’ve always suffered from the ‘you need to be nice and kind and accommodate everyone when you’re going out.’ I think on so many levels, nahihirapan ako kasi first introvert ako,” she explained.
The celebrity vlogger said that it took her several years to adjust to this kind of situation and stressed that she is also a human being who also has her private life. “When we’re out it’s not as if we’re out because we’re going to engage people, it’s really more of like running errands or being with ourselves,” she said.
In this kind of situation, Rica said that it was like catching a celebrity on a very normal day in which they are not doing any showbiz engagement. “Sino ba yung tao na gustong magpapicture 24/7 ng buhay niya,” she added.
Rica Peralejo also stressed that she is giving the public a perspective because celebrities also feel bad at times and that they can’t accommodate everybody. On the other hand, she said that they understand that this is part of their lives as public figures.
