Sagip party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta Broaches Idea to Make Food Pills for Poor Filipinos
Sagip party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta broached his idea to make food pills for poor Filipino people.
Marcoleta raised a weird question during the confirmation hearing of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. He asked a question regarding pildoras or food pills used by astronauts in orbit.
Renato Solidum Jr. answered that the pills were made up of compact foods and vitamins. The Sagip party-list Representative explained the reason why he raised such an unusual question during the hearing.

The representative claimed that astronauts sent to orbit were using food pills instead of real food to survive in space for days or months. He thinks that poor Filipino people can use food pills to survive without food.
“I am thinking aloud na, kung sakaling makaimbento tayo nung kinakain nila, ibibigay ko po sa mga mahihirap na kababayan natin even for months hindi sila kakain di sila mamamatay eh. Meron po ba tayong ganun? Makakagawa po ba tayo ng ganun?” Marcoleta said.
Unfortunately, Solidum explained that the Philippines have no such pills at the present time but the government can provide ready-to-eat meals during disasters. Those ready-to-eat meals have a life span of six months.

“Mr. Chair what we have right now is meals ready to eat for disaster victims that has a sharp life of 6 months and di na po lulutuin but we don’t have that kind of…,” Solidum said.
“Ito ho palliative lang. Meaning to say, we have to just fill up the gap. Kung sakaling matulungan natin ang poorest of the poor, naimbento po niyo yung pildoras o whatever kahit anong kulay pa po yun tatanggapin ko. Pag ininom po ng mahirap, in two weeks lang Mr. Secretary na hindi siya bumili ng pagkain, hindi siya nagluto, ang laking bagay na po ‘yun. Yun na po yung tinatanong… Makagagawa kaya tayo ng ganun?” Marcoleta added.
However, DOST’s food security committee will look and study Marcoleta’s suggestion.

Wow that is a breakthrough…why not coming out with a recharger too to be used by the poor to just recharge when they get hungry.
Marcoleta is thinking waaay waaay waaaaay out of the box, are we paying this clown’s salary?
