Jericho Rosales and Ryan Agoncillo to work together in one film
The said movie series is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Erik Matti and written by Michiko Yamamoto. The director is also one of the producers with Ronald Monteverde under Reality MM Studios.
For the prequel, Jericho will portray the character of Pedring Eusebio, who started out in the New People’s Army and became a corrupt mayor of the fictional city called La Paz. Ryan’s character in the movie is Rene Pacheco, a high-ranking military official who makes his way into politics.
As of this writing, no other members of the cast were revealed yet. Talking about the prequel, Direk Erik Matti hinted at the mood that he wants to showcase in this movie.
“I love 1970s Hollywood crime films, or French Jean-Pierre Melville-type cop corruption movies that are no longer being made, although these are films that audiences still enjoy,” the award-winning director said.
Direk Erik added, “The prequel to ‘On The Job’ and ‘On The Job: The Missing 8’ provides another opportunity to bring a fresh, new Filipino crime story with international appeal to the world.”
The Missing 8 brought home recognition from the 78th Venice International Film Festival. One of the lead actors, John Arcilla, was awarded the Volpi Cup for best actor. It was previously revealed that the juries wanted a tie between John and his co-star Dennis Trillo. The said movie is also the official entry of the Philippines to the Oscars this year.
Meanwhile, the last movie that Jericho Rosales did prior to this new project was The Girl In The Orange Dress in 2018 while Ryan Agoncillo’s last film was in 2013 titled Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?
