Jerome Ponce to Portray as the Young Version of Ninoy Aquino in Martyr or Murderer
Actor Jerome Ponce will portray the young version of former senator Ninoy Aquino in Darryl Yap’s film “Martyr or Murderer”.
On Facebook, controversial director Darryl Yap revealed the new actor who will star in the sequel to his Marcos blockbuster “Maid in Malacañang” movie. Jerome Ponce will play the “young” Ninoy Aquino in “Martyr or Murderer,” according to Yap.
“Hindi ka Nag-iisa…na nanligaw kay Imelda. Jerome Ponce is the Young Ninoy,” says Yap in Facebook post on Thursday.
Prior to ‘MoM’, Ponce was one of the main stars of Director Atty. Vince Tañada’s Martial Law musical drama ‘Katips’. Jerome played ‘Greg’, a medical student and leader of the National Union of Students in the Philippines (NUSP).
Ponce was nominated for “best actor” at the 70th annual awards of The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) in August thanks to his stirring performance. Meanwhile, Isko “Moreno” Domagoso, a former mayor of Manila, was recently declared to portray the late senator Ninoy Aquino.
The role of “batang Macoy,” or teenager, is played by Viva artist Marco Gumabao. According to rumors, the narrative of MoM would center on former senator Ninoy Aquino and his interactions with Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos, particularly the latter.
Yap also said that Imelda fell in love with Ninoy Aquino and Pete Cojuangco, the brother of his wife, former President Cory Aquino. ‘MoM’ is targeted for release in cinemas in February 2023 in time for the 37th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
