Mel Tiangco reacts to the upcoming final episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya
Kapamilya drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya is set to have its final episode on December 10 and this received a reaction from Magpakailanman host Mel Tiangco.
On November 21, MMK host Charo Santos shared her farewell message with the fans of the Kapamilya drama anthology who have been with them for 31 years. This announcement brought back the memories that the viewers have with the show and with this MMK became a trending topic online following Charo’s message.
Mel is hosting MMK’s counterpart in the Kapuso network. Her show is celebrating its 20th anniversary. During a recent press conference for the show’s anniversary, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon, Mel was asked about the upcoming final of MMK.
“I’m sad, I mean I don’t like that. Kasi ano na ‘yung Maalaala Mo Kaya… classic na, kumbaga. Talaga? Nag-stop taping na sila?” Mel Tiangco said.
The Kapuso host said that she thought that it was because of the pandemic and the protocols that the entertainment industry had to observe. “Hindi, noong panahon ng pandemic, akala ko katulad lang namin talagang walang taping kasi pandemic. Akala ko ganon. That’s really sad. I’m sad for Charo,” Mel added.
She added that there have been rumors that MMK will end but Charo has not confirmed it yet and so she was hoping that this is not true. Mel also said that MMK is an institution already and its reputation is hard to overpower.
“Talagang hindi biro ‘yung pagkanatapat ka noon sa Maalaala Mo Kaya. Ah naku, magdasal ka na sa lahat ng santo. Hindi mo matatalo ‘yan. Eh, tumapat na talagang makapal ang mukha ko… Biro lang,” Mel said in jest.
Meanwhile, when asked about Magpakailanman’s secret to success, Mel said that it is the show’s sincerity. She added that their audience can also relate to the real-life stories that they are featuring.
