Last April, Filipino-Italian model Celeste Cortesi was named Miss Universe Philippines 2022. She is not new to pageant stages.
The 24-year-old beauty queen represented the Philippines at Miss Earth 2018 before winning the Miss Universe Philippines crown. She made it into the international pageant’s Top 8.
Previously, Celeste Cortesi disclosed that Kapuso star Rabiya Mateo was the one who persuaded her to join the MUPH pageant. Celeste said that she had first considered competing in the aforementioned pageant the following year, but the Ilongga beauty queen had persuaded her to join this year instead.
Last August, Celeste looked back on all the stages of the Miss Universe Philippines competition, from her beauty shot to the coronation night. She admitted that recording a voiceover in Tagalog for the MUPH’s tourist video was one of the toughest things she had to do.

The Miss Universe 2022 competition has officially begun. They recently released the headshot photos of this year’s candidates, including the Philippines’ rep Celeste Cortesi.
Cortesi, who is vying for her country’s fifth Miss Universe title, chose to wear black and added a pair of sparkling earrings to finish off her ensemble.
On Instagram, Celeste urged her followers and fans to vote for her on the Miss Universe app. She said, “Thank you for your unconditional love and support. Mahal ko kayo.”
The Philippines currently has 4 MU titleholders: Catriona Gray (2018), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969). Beatrice Gomez, Celeste’s predecessor, placed fifth in last year’s Miss Universe competition, which saw India’s Harnaaz Sandhu take home the title.
The Miss Universe 2022 competition is scheduled to take place in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 14, 2023.
