Online Shopping Website Lazada Announces 11.4 Million Baby Wipes Sold During First 4 Hours of 11.11 Sale Event
The e-commerce platform Lazada reported that a total of 11.4 million baby wipes have been sold during the first four hours of the 11.11 sale.
On Thursday (November 17, 2022), Lazada announced that about 11.4 million baby wipes were sold in the first 4 hours of November 11, 2022 sale event. A lot of Filipino parents hoarded baby essentials with discounts.
The total number of sold baby wipes was equivalent to more than a month’s baby supplies for the entire country in a day. The sales drastically increase every time the platform gives discounts during sale events.
In addition to baby wipes, the online shopping website reported a 7 percent increase in makeup purchases and a six-fold increase in fragrance orders compared to a typical day. They also noted that the most popular lipstick colors during the 11.11 sale’s first hour were red, nude, and pink.
The company stated that tinted moisturizers, retinol, and vitamin C serum were among the top-selling skincare items this 11.11.
Electronics sales increased 230 times on 11.11 compared to a normal day as “Filipinos seemed to snap up the discounts” on smart devices such as VR accessories, smart switches, and watches, the platform said.
“11.11 has become more than just a shopping tradition, it has become a part of consumers’ lifestyles as we all seek the best deals and trendiest assortment. Just as importantly, it is also an avenue for brands and sellers to thrive and reach more customers,” Lazada Philippines’ CEO Carlos Barerra said.
According to Lazada, nearly 1,700 hours of content were streamed on the app during the sale event.
During the COVID-19 epidemic, online shopping has increased. Although inflation has had some impact on customers, a startup previously claimed that greater shopping basket sizes will boost industry growth.
