HERLENE BUDOL – Watch the video of Herlene Budol begging Miss Planet International staff to let her and her fellow candidates go home here.

The Miss Planet International beauty pageant, which was supposed to hold its 2nd edition on Nov. 19 shocked the pageant fans with reports that it had been canceled.  Kapuso star Herlene “Hipon Girl” Budol was one of the rumored 80 beauties who wanted to compete in the pageant.

Two candidates of the said pageant, Jamaica and the Czech Republic, have spoken up about their experience while Wilbert Tolentino, the manager of the Hipon, said that while their team may not have had a good experience, they are “surviving.”

Just recently, Wilbert Tolentino disclosed that they have backed out from the competition. He said the “uncertainties” of the MPI organizers prompted them to withdraw adding that Ugandan Government seems like doesn’t have any plans to intervene.

After her and her fellow delegates’ “traumatic experience” in the contest, Herlene asked the organizers of the pageant to let them return home. She was in tears while begging one of the organizers.

On November 15, Herlene Budol’s manager shared a YouTube vlog about their experience with Miss Planet International. It appears that the delegates were not given food or lodging during their stay in Kampala, Uganda, where the competition was set to take place.

The 23-old beauty queen was then seen talking to organizers about leaving the venue as many candidates decided to withdraw.

“I want to go home… I want to go out, I have a driver here,” Herlene told the staff in between sobs.

Another MPI candidate can be heard speaking to the organizers and pleading with them to allow other delegates to leave.

“Let them go, let the girls leave. She wants to leave, she doesn’t have [to stay]. It’s her right to leave,” the candidate said.

Herlene Budol and a few other contestants were finally permitted to leave the pageant venue and reside in their own temporary homes in Uganda after speaking with the organizers.
