Best in Sportsmanship Award John Amores Resurface Following Raging in NCAA

The ‘Best in Sportsmanship’ award received by Jose Rizal University (JRU) basketball player John Amores was discussed following a raging incident.

John Amores, a forward for JRU, has recently drawn controversy after losing his cool during the NCAA Season 98 Men’s Basketball Tournament. The College of St. Benilde will play the JRU basketball team on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

However, the game culminated in a brawl. In the game’s fourth quarter, with the Blazers leading 68-51, the altercation was put to an end. After he was entagled on the ground while playing defense, Amores lost control and began to punch members of the opposing team.

Mark Sangco, a CSB player, punched the enraged athlete to try and stop him. Jimboy Pasturan and Taine Davis both receive blows to the jaw from John Amores. The enraged player was pulled up by security staff, who led him to the dugout.

The JRU Heavy Bombers vs. College of St. Benilde Blazers game has been called off by the NCAA Management Committee in order to prevent any adverse situations from getting worse and to ensure the players’, coaches’, and spectators’ safety. The Blazers prevail in the match to claim victory.

Amores has previously acted erratically and gotten into fights inside the court. Earlier this year, during the preseason game, he punched Mark Belmonte of the University of the Philippines numerous times.

Earlier this season, Amores became involved with Kobe Monje of Letran. After the event, internet users discussed a picture of Amores receiving an award of “Best in Sportsmanship.”
