Joel Lamangan talked about his job as a director
Award-winning director Joel Lamangan said that artists who received “pagtataray” from him became big names in the entertainment industry.
Joel has worked a lot with different stars in showbiz in movies and TV shows. Throughout his years as a director, he also did various projects that paved the way to the status that he has now.
In a recent interview, the veteran filmmaker shared his thoughts on actors who are showing “attitude” on the set. He admitted that he is strict when it comes to doing his job. There were times when he would reprimand the actors.
He gets angry when an artist would pretend that he or she knows what to do. For him, it is better for those artists to be honest with him and ask for his help. Joel Lamangan does not like those who would arrive past their call time.
“Yung mga artistang may call time ng 8 a.m. pero darating ng 12. May iba pa darating ng 4 in the afternoon. Magagalit na ako nun at hahabulin ko sila ng saksak,” he shared.
On the other hand, Direk Joel said that he would give praise to artists who are doing their jobs properly. He also shared that before the shooting commence, he would talk to the cast about the dos and don’ts. The director also wants the actors to treat everyone on the set with respect.
“Lahat ng tinarayan ko sumikat. Kayong mga artista, matakot kayo sa akin kung hindi ko kayo pinapansin. Kung ano ang ginagawa ninyo wala akong paki-alam ibig sabihin, hindi kayo nag-e-exist sa akin. Pag tinatarayan ko, may potential,” he said.
Joel Lamangan is also honest when it comes to telling newbies if they have potential or none. He would tell an aspiring artist if he or she has what it takes to be a star. “Maraming artista na sinabi kong huwag ka ng mag-artista mag-waiter ka na lang,” he said, adding that this is his way of helping the newbies not to waste their time on something that they are not good at.
