A water vendor becomes Kainoa’s first customer who bought toys for his children. He also encouraged and congratulated the little kid for being an entrepreneur despite his young age.

“Yes, that was my son you saw selling his toys in the plaza last (end of June) July during the city’s week-long activities for the celebration of our Carcar City’s Charter day.

And if you bought toys from him, thank you so much for supporting him. I can still remember the first customer, who was so proud of the young boy, he encouraged my son and congratulated him for being an entrepreneur, and bought some toys for his children. That tubig vendor made my son so happy for being the first customer on his first day.

Why was he selling his toys? It all started when he was asking for a new toy. We realized that after donating 2 boxes of toys during Odette he still have plenty of toys at home. He is blessed to have generous grandparents, aunties and uncles, and friends who gifted him toys throughout the years. And as part of teaching him the principle of self-reliance, we encouraged him to think of a way to get the toy he wanted. He then came up with the plan to sell something since he knew he couldn’t work, in his own words: “bata pa man ko dad, di ko ka’work”, referring to jobs that requires legal age to work

It took weeks of planning our schedule and reviewing the basic mathematical operation. I instructed him that he would be left alone and I would only be at about a good distance where I can see and hear him.

It was a very wonderful experience for him. He had the days nga kusog halin and days where he just wanted to go home because the sales was slow.

Again, thank you for giving my son a wonderful experience as part of his learning the lessons of self-reliance and entrepreneurship.  ”
