Senior High Student Possessing P1-M worth of Illegal Drugs Arrested

Authorities arrested a senior high school student for allegedly possessing P1 million worth of illegal drugs.

During a buy-bust operation that was carried out this Tuesday in Pottan, Iloilo, a joint team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office and the Pototan Municipal Police Station (MPS) detained the senior high school student.

Senior High Illegal Drugs

The suspect, identified in the report as Lance Florida, was a 21-year-old inhabitant of Rizal Street in the mentioned town. Florida has been identified as the delivery boy for a significant drug cartel operating in the 3rd District in the province of Iloilo, according to Captain Francis Albert Fortunado of IPPO-PDEU.

Fortunado claims that it took months to attempt to carry out an anti-drug operation against Florida because the latter would drop the illicit substance elsewhere and make payment using GCash. However, the undercover officer was successful in persuading Florida to conduct the deal in person, based on the report.

The discovery of the suspect with shabu and the delivery of the poseur buyer’s cash in the anticipated buy-bust operation in Barangay Rumbang of this town heralded his arrest. The suspect was found to have about 150 grams of what is thought to be shabu worth P1,020,000.

The suspect is regarded by the authorities as a high-value individual (HVI) who distributes drugs in the targeted town. While the pertinent evidence against him is being assembled, the suspect is being held at the Pototan MPS. Republic Act No. 9165, often known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be enforced against Florida.
