Sports Car Driver Ignores Ignores Summon of LTO After Passing at EDSA Bus Lane
The driver of the sports car that was spotted passing at the EDSA bus lane ignored the summon of the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
After receiving a show cause order from the LTO, the driver was supposed to appear at their office. Renan Militante, head of the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division, said that if the driver does not appear once more, there is nothing else they can do but end the event and file charges against the driver based on the available information.
He maintained that they would not put up with sports cars and other types of vehicles using the busway, which should only be utilized for emergency situations for buses. Despite already knowing the driver’s name, the LTO will withhold it from the public in accordance with the Data Privacy Act, based on the report.
“Hindi dapat tayo nandoon. ‘Yun po ay para lamang sa ating mga PNP, ating ambulansya. ‘Yun po ang primary na dapat dumaan po d’un,” he said.
On Monday, October 24, LTO requested that the foreign owner and driver of the car appear at the division’s Intelligence and Investigation Division. Additionally, a report outlining the reasons the state shouldn’t bring an administrative case against the driver and owner was requested in order to prevent the driver’s license from being suspended.
“We will not tolerate this kind of intrusion into road lanes that were assigned for the exclusive use of specific types of vehicles during the state of a national health emergency, which still exists today,” LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Teofilo Guadiz III said.
“The LTO does not and will not condone this wanton disregard for traffic laws so the owner and driver have a lot of explaining to do. We will also make sure that the appropriate penalties are applied so this won’t happen again,” Guadiz stressed.
